The Minister of Transportation, Director General of the Buhari Presidential Campaign Organization, and All Progressive Congress Party, APC, leader in Rivers State, Right Honourable Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has drawn up a new power calculus to fill the gap created by the non-sponsorship of APC governorship candidate, and resolved to support the candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Engr. Awara Biokpomabo, in the Saturday, March 9, 2019, governorship and House of Assembly elections in Rivers State.
Amaechi in Eleme, Rivers State, on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, told APC members and supporters to vote the AAC governorship candidate in the governorship election on Saturday.
Amaechi acknowledged that though APC is still in Court over the non-inclusion of the party’s candidates in the governorship and house of Assembly elections in Rivers State; he maintained that it is pertinent to adopt the candidate of AAC considering the time nearness of the elections.
The AAC candidate, Engr. Awara Biokpomabo, was identified to come from Kula Community in the Riverine area of the Kalabari Kingdom.
Amaechi had declared: “This morning, the leadership of the party met and agreed that we’ll work with a party called African Action Congress, AAC, while we are still in Court to reclaim our mandate. So, on Saturday, we will vote for AAC. You must go home and vote for AAC. There should be no excuse not to vote because there will be security for everybody. You must prepare and make sure you win the governorship election.”
The Transport Minister told APC supporters that they would derive benefits from the government in voting the AAC candidate.
“The moment you win the governorship election this Saturday and the Governor is sworn-in in May, by June, there will be Local Government elections. So, you should all go out and vote and make sure that you are not rigged out,” Amaechi stated.
