President Muhammadu Buhari has proved pundits wrong in re-appointing Godwin Emefiele for a second term as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). National Daily leant that several armchair analysts have been of the view that the President may not re-appoint Emefiele for second term and may seek a northerner as his replacement. But President Buhari ended nominating Emefiele for confirmation by the Senate for a second tenure as CBN Governor.
Godwin Emefiele was appointed CBN Governor in 2014 by former President Goodluck Jonathan; President Buhari retained him after his inauguration on May 29, 2015. The President did not only allow him run out his tenure, he has now re-appointed Emefiele for second term to complete the maximum eight years opportunity.
National Daily learned that Emefiele before appointed CBN Governor had over 26 years of experience in commercial banking, rising to the position of Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank PLC.
